Well, actually version 10.0.23 works OK with Java version 8, however, note that we should be aware that from Tomcat 10 and onwards, (as a result of the move from Java EE to Jakarta EE as part of the transfer of Java EE to the Eclipse Foundation), the primary package for all implemented APIs has changed from javax.* to jakarta.*. The most recent version (Sep 15, 2022) is Version 10.1.x and requires Java version 11 or later. You can go to the Apache Tomcat website and by clicking on the “ Which Version” link on the left, you can see a list of the available versions.
